KUWAIT: Officials at the Ministry of Public Works announced that the ministry was mulling over plans to construct a main office building in the Sabhan area similar to the current building in the south Surra area. The project they said would be built over an area admeasuring 50,000 square meters. The main building they said would occupy over nearly 45,000 square meters, while the car park would occupy over 6,500 square meters.
The building would comprise of a basement that would include offices, service counters and a car park, including three upper floors (ground, first and second) at an estimated cost of KD 18 million. They also said that departments expected to relocate to the new building would be the Expressway and Roads Department and the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Governorate's Buildings Maintenance Department.
The ministry, they added was waiting for a decision from the Municipal Council to approve the decision which had been sent earlier by the ministry's undersecretary. They also explained that they had also undertaken a feasibility study for the design of two buildings - one for the Ministry of Public Works and the Ministry of Electricity and Water admeasuring 7,000 square meters for each building at an estimated cost of KD 16 million.
