Monthly installment for housing loan to be cut

KUWAIT CITY:  The proposal to increase the percentage of national manpower in the private sector, once implemented, will generate 20,800 job opportunities for Kuwaitis, reports Al-Seyassah daily quoting Dire-ctor of Small Enterprises Depar-tment at the Government Man-power Restructuring Program (GMRP) Fares Al-Enezi.

Al-Enezi made the statement on the sidelines of the recently-concluded conference organized by Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) with the participation of GMRP officials and representatives of labor unions, investment companies and Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor.

According to Al-Enezi, decision number 955/2005 which specifies the percentage of Kuwaiti workers in private companies has, so far, generated 13,722 job opportunities for citizens.

He disclosed the proposal to increase the percentage includes stipulations on granting more privileges to national workers in the private sector, such as the reduction of monthly installment for housing loan from KD300 to KD150 or KD100.

He said the proponents of the proposal stressed the need to give more incentives to Kuwaitis working in private companies, especially since 12,270 citizens transferred from the private sector to government institutions from 2005 to 2011.

On the contrary, some of the representatives of the organizations and institutions mentioned above opposed the proposal on grounds that it is unrealistic. They also stressed the need to change the philosophy behind the Kuwaitization program because it has led to the bogus recruitment of citizens in the private sector.
