Damascus - British-Syrian Society holds Private and Public Sectors Partnership Conference at the directives of Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Abdallah al-Dardari.

Executive Director of the British-Syrian Society Ghayth Armanazi has revealed that Syria is expected to launch, as part of its ongoing reform program, a set of important initiatives in relation to partnership between private and public sectors, with the aim of providing necessary financing for some infrastructure-related projects in Syria.

The conference is due to last from October 30th-November 1st, 2009, and is due to focus attention on the four main infrastructure sectors defined by the Syrian government for partnership between public and private sectors, mainly oil and gas, electricity, social housing and transport.

The conference is expected to witness participation representing the aforementioned sectors, and each minister is to put forward the general framework for partnership projects between public and private sectors.

Armanazi said that the conference is likely to acquire special significance economically, socially and politically.
