MUSCAT -- Panasonic launched yesterday its new range of Lumix G Series professional digital SLR cameras as well as the compact point-and-shoot cameras. It also released new models ranging from the newly-produced S Series up to the high-end and extremely successful, travel zoom TZ range.

The new line-up boasts of the best in the industry in picture quality coupled with better zoom capabilities, wider angle lenses and professional consumer features, such as GPS and a touch screen with shutter activation.

"Panasonic cameras are designed to meet the varied needs of the consumer. The new line-up of Lumix cameras with their unique functionality will definitely meet the customer demands. The cameras are versatile, trendy and the image quality is of the highest caliber, be it still or videos", commented Hitesh Ojha, Deputy General Manager, Panasonic Marketing Middle East.

Highlight of models:
- Panasonic GF3 the world's smallest and lightest digital SLR, featuring higher image quality and advanced AF system. The GF3 weighs 222g which breaks the world record making it the lightest DSLR. The new GF3 is powered with a 12.1 mega pixel MOS sensor.

This camera also records full HD videos. High speed precision contrast AF system, of the Lumix G Micro System realises the world's fastest level of approx 0.18 seconds. This camera also has a touch screen operation.

- The new TZ20 which is the sixth generation in the Travel Zoom ranges. Promoted as the ideal travel camera, this model features 16x optical zoom, a 3-inch smart touch screen, wide-angle Leica lens, 14.1-megapixel MOS sensor, advanced GPS with1 million registered landmarks and full HD video recording.

- New Lumix Tough Series is the FT3. Now waterproof down to 12 metres, this model is also shockproof up to 2 metres, freeze proof up to -10 Celsius, dustproof and, for the first time, sand proof. Whilst Panasonic wasn't the first with tough cameras, they are now leading the industry in terms of durable features. This model has a 12.1-megapixel sensor, 4.6x zoom, Full HD video and a 2.7-inch screen. This model also has the GPS features and functions.

- In Panasonic super-megapixel range, there are two new 16.1-megapixel cameras, the FH27 and the FH25. Colours for this model consist of black, silver and red.

- In the slim and stylish FH range, Panasonic has two new models: the FH5 and the FH2. There is a wide range of colours in this series which is aimed at consumers looking for a reliable camera to take out to a social event. Across the two models, the cameras are available in an array of colours like black, silver, red, pink and blue varying between models.

- Finally, Panasonic has launched a new entry level S Series. With easy-to-use features, the two models have sizable megapixel count; these units are aimed at those looking to buy their first digital camera. The S3 has a 14.1-megapixel camera and the S1 has a 12.1 megapixels.

This range of Panasonic Lumix cameras is available at all Panasonic retail outlets across the Sultanate.
