MUSCAT -- Sayyid Badr bin Saud al Busaidy, Minister Responsible for Defence Affairs, Lt Gen Malik bin Sulaiman al Maamari, Inspector General of Police and Customs, Lt Gen Abdullah bin Saleh al Habsi, Chief of the Internal Security Service, Mohammed bin Nasser al Rasbi, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, and the Commander of the Sultan's Special Force yesterday visited the site of Al Shomoukh-1 military exercise which is carried out by the Sultan's Armed Forces (SAF), units of the Defence Ministry and other security departments.

The tour was witnessed by Lt Gen Ahmed bin Harith al Nabhani, SAF Chief of Staff and Director of the Al Shomoukh-1 exercise, Major General Said bin Nasser al Salmi, Commander of the Royal Army of Oman and leader of the drill's joint forces, Air Vice Marshal Yahya bin Rasheed al Jumaa, Commander of the Royal Air Force of Oman and leader of the air wing of the exercise, and Rear Admiral Salim bin Abdullah al Alawi, Commander of the Royal Navy of Oman and leader of the naval wing of the exercise.

The guest were briefed about the exercise by Brigadier Awadh bin Mohammed al Mshaikhi, Assistant Chief of Staff for Training and Joint Exercises, and Brigadier Saud bin Sulaiman al Habsi, Assistant Chief of Staff for Operations and Planning, among other high ranking officers.

Al Shomoukh-1 is the national stage towards Peninsula-8 military exercise in which Peninsula Shield Force and GCC land, air and naval forces will take part.
