MUSCAT -- Oman's embassies and consulates abroad have celebrated the 38th glorious National Day. Dr Badr bin Mohammed al Hinai, Oman's Ambassador to Austria, held a reception to mark the National Day at Vienna Grand Hotel. It was attended by Austrian Foreign Ministry and government officials, heads of diplomatic missions, officials from the United Nations offices and organisations, the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries and Opec Development Fund, public personalities, businessmen, media men and Omani students in Austria.

Shaikh Abdullah bin Zahir al Hosni, Oman's Ambassador to Russia, also held a reception at Marriott Hotel. It was attended by Alexander Sultanov, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister, Vladimir Jirinovsky, Deputy Speaker of the Duma, senior military commanders, security services officials, representative of Moscow mayor, government officials, representatives in the Duma and heads of diplomatic missions.

A reception hosted by Hafeed bin Salim Baomar, Oman's Ambassador to Thailand, was attended by Thai oil and culture ministers, head of Protocols Department at the Foreign Ministry, diplomats, businessmen, private sector representatives and Omanis in Thailand. In Tehran, a similar reception hosted by Shaikh Yahya bin Abdullah al Fanah al Araimi, Oman's Ambassador to Iran, was attended by Dr Mohammed Jalal Fayrouz, Head of Gulf Department at the Foreign Ministry, Jeihan Bakhsh Mudhafari, Head of Protocols Department, Foreign Ministry officials, military and media officials and diplomats.

Khamis bin Mohammed al Farsi, Oman's General Consul in Karachi, also held a Reception which was attended by Shahla Sayed Shahla Ridha, Acting Governor of Sindh province, ministers, diplomats, businessmen and media men. Hamad bin Mohammed al Hajri, Oman's General Consul??? in Australia, held a reception in Melbourne in the presence of Barbara Perry, Minister of Local Governments and Representative of New South Wales Prime Minister, diplomats, members of the federal parliament and state assemblies, businessmen, academics and Omani students.

An exhibition on crafts, silverwares and traditional industries that depict Oman's ancient civilisation was held on the sidelines of the function. Ali bin Abdullah al Mahrouqi, Oman's representative in Sofia, held a reception at Sofia Kempinski Hotel attended by Coburg-Gotha, former king of Bulgaria, Daniel Vulchev, Deputy Prime Minister, education and sciences minister, deputy foreign minister for Middle East, Africa, Asia and Australian Affairs, officials and diplomats.
