MUSCAT -- The ISACA Muscat Chapter is conducting an inaugural educational seminar this evening to highlight the importance of the CISA (Certified Information System Auditor) and CISM (Certified Information Security Manager) certification for audit and IT professionals in Oman. The seminar will be held from 7pm-9pm at the College of Banking and Financial Studies (CBFS), Bausher. Globally and in Oman, increasing importance is being accorded to information security, audit, governance and control.
This has led the community of IT and Audit professionals to recognise the importance of professional certifications such as CISA and CISM. The educational programme organised by the ISACA Muscat Chapter is targeted towards audit, accounting and IT professionals in the Sultanate. The programme will focus on the two globally recognised and accredited certification programmes offered by ISACA. This evening's seminar will begin with an educational talk on 'Measuring the Information Security Return on Investment', followed by an informative session about the two certifications.
The CISM designation is designed to provide executive management with confidence that those earning the designation have the required knowledge and ability to manage information security. The domains of knowledge covered are highly streamlined and aligned with the roles and responsibilities of real world information Security Managers. It is business oriented and focuses on key concepts of information risk management including management, design, and technical security issues.
While its central focus is security management, all those in the IS profession with security experience will find value in obtaining the CISM designation. The CISA certification provides recognition and an effective solution to practicing auditors, accountants and IT professionals in gaining the confidence and to be successful in performing the task of information system auditing profession. CISA and CISM classes commence on March 1.
