MUSCAT -- Bentley Motors is proud to be hosting the international media drive of the new Continental GT coupé in Oman during November 2010. Journalists from all around the world are experiencing the new Bentley against the Sultanate's unique backdrop of dramatic scenic beauty, colourful history, world class hotels and superb, new driving roads. The original and highly successful Continental GT introduced in 2003 represented the first step in Bentley's renaissance and defined a whole new market segment.
It was a luxury GT that remained true to the Bentley grand touring spirit, achieving major worldwide sales success. Since its introduction in the Middle East, the Continental GT has become one of the most coveted models among the region's automotive connoisseurs. The new four-seat Continental GT builds on the success of its predecessor, capturing that GT spirit, but with even higher standards of design, engineering, luxury, craftsmanship, refinement, everyday practicality and dynamic performance.
The Middle East region is tremendously important to Bentley as it makes up 10 per cent of the luxury carmaker's total world sales. However, the region has never before hosted a global media launch of a new Bentley. Alasdair Stewart, Board Member, Sales & Marketing, said, "It makes perfect sense to hold the international media drive of the new Continental GT in Oman. It has everything: perfect weather, stunning scenery for superb photography, luxurious hotels and fabulous new roads that test the agility of our new GT."
Journalists are based at the luxurious Shangri-la's Barr Al Jissah Resort & Spa in a dramatic setting of rugged mountains and inviting beaches. From there, they drive the new Continental GT through the walled city of Muscat and into the arid deserts framed by the majestic Al Hajar mountains, en route to Nizwa, the nation's former capital city. The beautifully surfaced, traffic-free new roads with their challenging curves complement perfectly the Bentley driving experience.
"The reception we have had from our Omani hosts and the local people who have seen the cars on the road has been incredible", continued Alasdair. "First reports from top international journalists clearly demonstrate how much they enjoyed both the new Continental GT and their brief experience of the Sultanate. It definitely has that "wow" factor we wanted to match the breathtaking new GT." The new Continental GT is available to order from Wattayah Motors in Oman.
