Muscat - Remains of bones, pottery jars and metal pieces resembling knives have been found at the site of Sohar Industrial Port project. Having inspected the findings, they came out to be the contents of a graveyard which dates back to the period of Wadi Suoq (2,000 to 1,300BC).
The Omani Contractors Union Company, which implements the Sohar Port Project, has conducted a two-week field work at the discovered site in cooperation with the Directorate-General of Ports and Marine Affairs at the Transport and Communications Ministry. This field work led to discovering two tombs at the site. The department concerned at the Heritage and Culture Ministry has registered the findings and kept them at the ministry in preparation to study them. These findings will later be displayed in the Sultanate's various museums.
