Abu Dhabi, Jan 15th, 2012 (WAM) -- The Municipality of Abu Dhabi City has completed the installation and operation of state-of-the-art lifts on the two footbridges linking Al Sa'ada Street & Street No. 23, as well as Street No. 25 and Street No. 29, on the Eastern Ring Road to ensure the highest levels of traffic safety for pedestrians and road users and reduce the time wasted by pedestrians.
This initiative comes as part of the efforts of the Municipality of Abu Dhabi City to promote the safety and security standards, encourage road users and pedestrians to use these overcrossings, offer children, elderly and people with special needs safe and hassle-free crossing, and reduce traffic accidents, thus making life easier for Al Salam Street users. The Municipality of Abu Dhabi City has already completed the installation and operation of sophisticated staircases on three footbridges at the traffic diversions area made at the Tourist Club area, near the city center, as part of the development project of Al Salam Street and the Eastern Ring Road. The first, is opposite to Abu Dhabi Mall, the second is opposite to the Meridian Hotel, while the third is opposite to Khalifa Complex B overlooking Street No. 10.Copyright Emirates News Agency (WAM) 2012.
