Abu Dhabi, Aug 14th, 2012 (WAM) - Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of UAE Armed Forces General His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan attended on Monday a lecture delivered by renowned Kuwaiti Scholar and Imam of Kuwait's Grand Mosque Sheikh Mishari Rashid Al Asafi.

The lecture, the last in a series held at the Ramadan Majlis of the Crown Prince, was also atended by Umm Al Qaiwain Crown Prince HH Sheikh Saud Bin Rashid Al Mualla , Speaker of Federal National Council Mohammed Ahmed Al Mur.

The lecture was also attended by HH Sheikh Suroor Bin Mohammed Al Nahyan and HH Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister, HH Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, HH Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister, Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Sheikh Sultan Bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Authority for Tourism and Culture and a number of Sheikhs, ministers, senior state officials, diplomats and other guests.

Sheikh Al Afasi opened the lecture reciting a few verses from Chapter Taha in the Holy Quran and shone light on the linguistic peculiarities of the last divine scripture.

The scholar, who is an authority on the intonation science of Holy Quran, also discoursed on the order of letters appearing in the scripture and their relationship with the daily life of a Muslim.

Holy Quran, the final book from God revealed to Prophet Mohammed (Peace be upon him) through angel Gerbil, was send down in the Qureish dialect of the pure Arabic language. This Quran, containing 114 chapters could be read in seven various accents, Al Afasi explained.

The scholar then shed light on the history of the compilation of Holy Quran and said that this endeavour started soon after the Prophet died. All the chapters of Quran was memorised by many companions of the Prophet and preserved written on a variety of materials.

A number of these companions who knew Holy Quran by heart were killed in the battles Muslims fought against the apostates within two years after Prophet's death. The Caliph Abu Backer, in consultation with Omer Bin Al Khatab, ordered Prophet's scribes to collect the Holy Quran into a single volume and this is how the word's of God are preserved in the original form without being lost; the scholar explained.
