KUWAIT CITY: The Ministry of Education (MoE) will pay the salaries of new teachers who have not received their salaries for several months -- retroactively starting from their first day at work, reports Al-Anba quoting Assistant Undersecretary for Administration Affairs Aisha Al-Rawdhan. Confirming the names of newly-appointed teachers who were not paid since August will be forwarded to the Finance Affairs Department to facilitate procedures for the transfer of the salaries to personal bank accounts of the teachers, Al-Rawdhan clarified teachers, whose files were reported missing, will receive their salaries soon and the ministry will find a solution to the problem.

On another issue, Al-Rawdhan said the ministry has formed a committee to look into the issue of the 64 Suburban cars that acting Manager for Services Affairs Department Muslim Al-Saie refused to hand over as the company which rents the vehicles have failed to meet the terms and conditions of the contract. She revealed the committee consists of representatives from the Legal Affairs Department and other experts, adding the rental company belongs to the brother of Assistant Undersecretary for Financial Affairs Radhi Al-Rashidi. About the promotions of employees to grades A and B, Al-Rawdhan stressed the ministry will grant the promotion only to deserving employees.

Meanwhile, the Faculty of Administrative Science at Kuwait University will hold on Tuesday a two-day conference on economy under the auspices of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah. The Dean of the Department and head of the upcoming conference, Rashid Al-Ajmi, said on Monday, at a news conference, that tomorrow's conference is considered one of the most important gatherings, organized by the faculty, adding that it will include elite economic and political figures from Kuwait and nine Arab and foreign countries.

Among participants will be First Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Sheikh Dr. Mohammad Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah who will present a scientific paper on ways to confront a financial crisis and its repercussions on the region, including efforts to overcome such crises, Al-Ajmi added.

The dean noted that the conference is considered a preliminary conference prior to the upcoming Arab Economic Summit scheduled here next January.

In the meantime, holding the first exhibition for universities is a step aimed at serving the interests of Kuwaiti youths, Chairman of the board for the Science Club Iyyad Al-Kharafi said here Monday.

Al-Kharafi told reporters that 25 universities and high educational institutions were taking part in the event which would allow newly high-school graduates to pursue their own interests, adding that the exhibition, which began Sunday, would last for four days. Meanwhile, the club's Secretary General Ahmad Al-Manfohi affirmed that they were very keen on such activities which would give students a chance to determine their own future paths, adding that all local and international universities were recognized at the global level. Other attendees of the event commended the science club's efforts to hold the exhibition for Kuwaiti students.
