The UAE will take delivery of the first squadron of F16 fighter aircraft in May and the rest in batches in subsequent months.

Plans to acquire a multi-billion dollar missile defence system by the UAE as well as five E-2C Hawkeye airborne early warning and control aircraft may take some time as they are still being studied, Major General Khalid Abdullah Al Bu-Ainnain, Commander of the UAE Air Force and Air Defence, said yesterday.

The $350 million (Dh1.29 billion) deal with Northrop Grumman of the US for five E-2C Hawkeye airborne early warning and control aircraft is also being studied, among other deals.
