UAE-based international water, wastewater treatment and desalination expert Metito has won two major contracts worth Dh20.25 million ($5.5 million) in Indonesia to supply industrial water treatment systems in the petrochemical and chemical industries.
The company's aims to turn its Jakarta-based regional headquarters into a fully-fledged operation with its own engineering centre from where it will manage regional projects, whilst still enjoying the technology support from the group's headquarters in the UAE.
Nabeel Wareeth, head of Indonesian operation, said the contracts are worth $2.5 million and $3 million respectively.
In the Cikampek area of West Java, the company is establishing a plant to provide highly purified water from a demineralisation plant for the Kujan 1B ammonia urea project.
Valued at $2.5 million, the project is being undertaken with the local IKPT contractors, with Toyo Engineering Corp of Japan being the main EPC contractor and consultant for the job.
At Tuban in East Java, the company is working on the Tuban aromatics project and is using its reverse osmosis technology to supply pure water for process use and boiler feed applications for the PT Trans-Pacific Petrochemical Indotama organisation. The project is valued at $3 million.
Metito is acknowledged as among the world's leading suppliers of reverse osmosis and demineralisation technologies used to help treat salt or brackish water and enable it to be purified for drinking, industrial and other purposes.
