Abu Dhabi Basic Industries Corporation (ADBIC) and Bahrain's Midal Cables ann-ounced the establishment of a $100m aluminum plant.

The plant will be part of an overall joint venture agree-ment which was signed by the two companies.

Construction of the plant will begin in the first quarter of 2010 at Khalifa Port and Industrial Zone in Taweelah.

The state-of-the-art plant will produce 150,000 tons per annum of aluminum products, mainly consisting of aluminium rods and electrical overhead conductors.

ADBIC and Midal Cables also announced that the molten aluminum would be supplied by the Emirates Aluminum Company.
