KUWAIT, June 8 (KUNA) -- The National Assembly committee on medical and social affairs and labor approved on Sunday a report on the private sector labor bill.
"The report, containing amendments of the bill will be referred to the National Assembly for endorsement," Rapporteur of the committee MP Saleh Ashor told reporters here.
"The private sector labor bill was passed by the committee on medical and social affairs and labor of the former parliament.
"The new amendments will be on the agenda of the coming parliamentary session," Ashor asserted.
"Sunday meeting of the committee invited Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Bader Al-Duwaila to attend the committee meeting next Sunday.
"The coming meeting will discuss three draft bills, including one on social assistances.
"Minister of Health Ali Al-Barrak will be also invited to brief the meeting on the new vision of cooperation between his ministry and the committee to settle several medical issues," Ashor pointed out.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the committee MP Hussein Qui'an Al-Mutairi said the new amendments modernize the medical services, urging the government to take the suggestions of the committee into consideration.
"We call on the government in general and the Ministry of Health in particular to give priority to the healthcare issues in order to ease the concerns of citizens and improve the medical services," he underscored.
"The suggestions include segregation of citizens and expatriates in healthcare particularly in the emergency wards of hospitals," he disclosed, noting that segregation did not mean bias or discrimination as it was adopted in several countries of the world.
"They also include expansion of the bed capacity of hospitals and other major healthcare projects," Al-Mutairi added.
He voiced hope for early completion of the late amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Sabah Hospital, and acceleration of health insurance hospitals, asserting the importance of health insurance for many walks of life in Kuwait especially the elderly people.
"The committee attributes great importance to the combat against serious diseases such as leukemia and neurosclerosis," Al-Mutairi added.
