Work on the Multiple Sclerosis (MS) centre is on track, with 17 per cent of the project already complete.

The health milestone is being constructed as part of the Muharraq Medical Complex.

According to the Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Ministry, which supervises the project, the centre will be operational in the first quarter of 2022.

“The complex also includes the long-stay healthcare centre, also currently under construction,” said assistant under-secretary for construction and maintenance projects Shaikh Mishal bin Mohammed Al Khalifa.

He highlighted the progress of work on the project as Bahrain joins today other nations in observing the World MS Day 2021 under the global theme ‘Connections’ for three years (2020-2022).

The centre will feature seven outpatient clinics, a Myocardial Perfusion Imaging ward and other sections.

The National Bank of Bahrain is funding the BD3.7 million project, including the costs of construction, medical equipment and furniture.
