MUSCAT -- Muscat Private Hospital's faculty of healthcare professionals has grown with the arrival of Prof Jean Marc Meyer, a Swiss consultant surgeon specialising in foot and ankle care. Prof Meyer, who is recognised as an international expert in the treatment of foot and ankle sports injuries and correction of foot and heel deformities, will provide specialist consultations to the residents of Oman during his stay here. "Only a small percentage of the population is born with foot problems.
Its neglect and a lack of awareness of proper care including ill-fitting shoes that brings on the problems," says Prof Meyer. "Foot and ankle emergencies happen every day with broken bones, dislocations, sprains, contusions, infections and other serious injuries potentially occurring at any time. Early attention is vitally important. Whenever you sustain a foot or ankle injury, you should seek immediate treatment from an expert specialist," he explains.
"Prof Meyer is a thorough professional who not only provides the right medical attention to the patients, but also follows up the status of his patients at the MPH personally. A consultant clinician with such extensive experience as Prof Jean Marc Meyer visiting Muscat Private Hospital year after year provides an excellent opportunity to people in Muscat and indeed throughout Oman to access an internationally renowned expert, that would otherwise mean them having to travel to Europe," said Gerard Strong, Director of Muscat Private Hospital.
