KUWAIT, Nov 20 (KUNA) -- A Kuwaiti company for marketing and promotion of toursim announced on Monday that it won a contract worth USD 36 million to build an entertainment tourism complex in Bahrain.
Salah Al-Rumaih, the company's board chairman, told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) the project which was approved by the Bahraini Prime Minister Sheikh Khalifa bin Salman Al-Khalifa is the first step in reinforcing Bahraini-Kuwaiti joint commercial marketing relations.
He said the project which was designed by consultant engineer Saleh Al-Qallaf will use natural materials such as wood and rocks to give the visitors the sense of walking through a natural scene.
The eoxmplex will include a theatre, that can be used by the municipality and any other authority, he added.
The open theatre, the first of its kind in Bahrain and the Arabian Gulf, will host local, Arabian and international events.
The project is located in Al-Lozi area in Hamad Town and includes a commercial mall, a sports recreation, health center and a number of halls. It will also include a three-storey commercial mall with stores, cinemas, restaurants and cafes.
He said the project takes special care of the people with special needs in the way it has designed its facilities, the mall and the sports recreations center.
Director General of the northern area municipality in Bahrain Dr. Mohammed Ali Hassan told KUNA he is impressed with the idea of the project which is considered the first of its kind and embodies the Kuwaiti-Bahraini joint cooperation.
This type of joint cooperation between both countries will boost tourism in and out of Bahrain, he added.
