KUWAIT CITY: The Minister of State for Municipal Affairs and Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development Shaya Al-Shaya has formed a task force in the Public Authority for Housing Welfare (PAHW), in partnership with the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, to study and approve the authority’s renewable energy projects, reports Al- Rai daily.
The decision stipulated the formation of the task force, headed by the Head of Electrical Works and Renewable Energy Department Badour Al-Sharrah. Members of the taskforce are Bassem Al-Mislim and Khaled Al-Rashidi representing the Ministry of Electricity, and Faisal Mulla Ali, Yasmine Al-Hashemi, and Rahaf Al-Otaibi representing PAHW.
The decision specified the tasks of the taskforce, which include follow-up study and review of all plans (design and implementation), studies, reports, specifications and materials of the solar photovoltaic system, for each project of PAHW separately (whether in buildings or planning areas).
The tasks also include approval of the subcontractor for solar energy works of each PAHW project separately, by representatives of the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, according to the list of companies approved by the ministry, and submitting the final plans (design and implementation), studies, reports, specifications and materials for the solar PV system for each project of PAHW separately, for approval by representatives of the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy.
In addition, the task force is assigned with following up, studying and approving all other renewable energy systems in the PAHW’s projects, setting up a mechanism for receiving and inspecting projects that have been completed, and keeping pace with any development in the requirements and laws of renewable energy systems affiliated to the Ministry of Electricity, to be applied in PAHW’s future projects.
The decision also authorized the task force to prepare the appropriate system to carry out its work, and that its meeting shall be considered valid in the presence of the majority of its members and as per the regulations of the employment affairs department.
