Ministry distributes map showing Kuwait, Iraq borders
Kuwait City - In an attempt to rid themselves of all the hubbub surrounding the issue of drawing borders between Kuwait and Iraq, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs recently distributed a map clearly showing the borders between the two countries, reports Al-Seyassah daily. These borders were established by the Borders Drawing Committee in the United Nations following the Iraqi invasion, adds the report. As per the international map the Kuwait-Iraq borders extend from Umm Qaser in the north to Al-Baten Vale in the south with 105 land border points passing through Safwan City, Sinam mountain, Southern Al-Raqta area, Jereshan Area and Hasu Al-Thabi.
The marine borders extend through 57 marine border points passing from Khorshetanah up to East Khor Abdullah. The map shows the border areas which recently witnessed disturbances with some Iraqi farmers demonstrating against the borders spread across 15 land border points crossing Umm Qaser City and Al-Qaqeyan area up to Um Qaser City East, say sources. The map shows this area to be full of sand dunes and this forced the Kuwaiti government to install border fronts to prevent terrorists from taking advantage of the area's natural layout, adds the source.
