BAGHDAD / NINA / Spokesman of the Ministry of Justice Haidar al-Saadi denied on Wednesday the release of the former regime defense minister Sultan Hashim, and Deputy Prime Minister Tariq Aziz.
He said in a statement, that there is no truth to the news promoted by some media on the release of Sultan Hashim and Tariq Aziz.
al-Saadi said Aziz and Hashim are still in the prisons of the ministry.
A number of MPs demanded to stop the death sentences against Sultan Hashim and Tariq Aziz.
The Iraqi criminal court has issued in the twenty-sixth of October 2010, sentenced to death by hanging until death against Tariq Aziz, in the case of killing of religious parties, and also sentenced to Lt. Gen. Sultan Hashim, former defense minister to death in June 2007 on charges of genocide against the Kurds.
