Dubai: Disgruntled buyers of apartments in Dubai's Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR) say full delivery of the project has been put back until after June.
Branded as the largest single phase residential development in the world, the 5 million square foot cluster of 36 residential towers, four hotels and four beach clubs was originally scheduled for handover in September 2006.
Earlier this year, project developer Dubai Properties told buyers they would receive the keys between March and May 2007.
However, certain sectors of the Dh7.3 billion development will not be handed over until an unspecified date after June, according to information obtained by Gulf News.
A letter written by JBR's sales team to a buyer who paid Dh1.4 million for his two-bedroom apartment, said handover of one sector will start on 28 March, followed by another sector during May - good news for many of the residents who bought JBR units as permanent or second homes, or to rent out.
But the letter then stated: "We have not received any confirmed details for the handover of the C and D sectors, but it is safe to say that they are not likely to be handed over prior to June. We regret any inconvenience that this may cause you and ask for continued patience."
