Prime Minister Samir Rifai met on Tuesday with Arab British Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) Chair, Baroness Symons of Vernham Dean, and Secretary General and Chief Executive of the Chamber, Afnan Al-Shuaiby. During the meeting, Rifai highlighted Jordan's attractive and investment-friendly climate and expressed keenness to forge closer economic ties with the UK. The ABCC chief expressed interest in a number of mega-projects Jordan plans to execute in key areas, including the Red Sea-Dead Sea water conveyance project and a peaceful nuclear program. The meeting also touched on an ABCC conference in London next September that will shed light on available investment opportunities in the Kingdom.
The ABCC delegation also met with the Minister of Industry & Trade Amer Hadidi and discussed ways and means of boosting economic cooperation between Jordan and the UK. The meeting focused on the need to familiarize the British business community with economic opportunities in Jordan and a competitive investment environment in the region with emphasis on Jordan's keenness to further advance economic ties with the UK.During a meeting with 1st Deputy-President of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce, Issa Haydar Murad, Symons voiced interest in Jordan's investment climate, mainly in the tourism, health care, pharmaceuticals, and IT fields.
