AMMAN (Petra) -- His Majesty King Abdullah, the Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces, on Thursday was patron at a ceremony to inaugurate Prince Hashem Ben Abdullah II Naval Base. The King listened to briefings by top navy officers and Ammar Malhas, the consultant at the Royal Court for engineering affairs.
The officials elaborated on the components and equipment of the base, which is equipped to receive large ships and is designed to upgrade the capabilities of the Jordanian navy. Also present at the ceremony were Prime Minister Marouf Bakhit, who is also defence minister, Chief of the Royal Court Salem Turk, Director of the King's Office Bassem Awadallah, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs-of-Staff General Khaled Sarayreh, Director of the General Intelligence Department Mohammad Dahabi and senior officers.
