BAGHDAD: Chairman of the National Alliance Ibraheem al-Jaffari discussed with Premier Nouri al-Maliki and Chairman of the Higher Islamic Council (HIC) the latest political developments and putting a "road map" to shift Iraq to future, based on the constitution and fulfill Alliance's commitments with other components.
The representative of the Sadrist Trend was absent, following Iraqiya bloc, in cooperation with the Kurdish alliance and the Sadrist Trend, collecting 164 signatures to be presented to President Jalal Talabani to demand the Iraqi parliament to withdraw confidence from Maliki's government.
In a statement Jaffari's said that "we met to discuss the latest issues and minimize the differences and put a road map, based on the constitution, as well as studying all suggested given by other components.
Jaffari confirmed that all issues shall be solved according to the constitution in a constructive way.
On Saturday last, the time limit given to the National Alliance by Najaf meeting will end, which demanded a replacement for Maliki.
Parliament speaker Usama Nujaifi said that Najaf meeting gave a one week notice to the National Alliance to replace Maliki; otherwise the confidence will be withdrawn from his government.
Iraqiya bloc, in coordination with Ahrar bloc, affiliate to the Sadrist Trend, are threatening to withdraw confidence, while the Kurdish stand is still not clear, despite continued criticism made by Kurdish region president Masoud Barzani.
Barzani accused Maliki of "unilaterally controlling power" and described his government as "a loser" and threatened that the Kurdish people will demand self-determination and the proclamation of the Kurdish state.
Premier Maliki hinted on possibility of dissolving the parliament and holding early elections.
For the last nine months, the political entities were trying to find proper solution to the differences, despite the calls of President Jalal Talabani to hold the National Conference.
