Sardasht, west Azerbaijan province - Mediamen from Iraq Kurdistan Region visited Iranian border town Sardasht and were briefed on Iran's aim to fight against PJAK terrorist group, governor of Sardasht said.
Zabihollah Kazemi told IRNA on Saturday evening that commanders of Islamic Republic Guard Corps (IRGC) expounded on the objectives of IRGC's military operation against PJAK terrorist group.
Upon invitation of IRGC, 35 reporters, officials and media representatives from Iraq Kurdistan Region arrived in Sardasht on Saturday and visited border regions as well as positions of conflicts between Iranian forces and PJAK.
In a press conference here, it was declared that Iran will continue its military operation to establish stability in the border areas and clean border strip from alien forces, Kazemi added.
The governor also said it was underlined that deployment of Iraqi central government or Kurdistan Region forces in their own border with Iran to provide security in the common border region was quite necessary.
He pointed out that Iran is strongly opposed to deployment of any US forces in areas between borders of Iran and Iraq Kurdistan Region.
Kazemi underscored that Iraqi Kurdistan Region government and residents of the border area should take a clear stance toward presence of terrorist forces of PJAK and PKK in the region.
It was also denied that Iran, Turkey and Iraqi Kurdistan Region have made an alliance to attack PKK and PJAK terrorist elements and it was said that Iran does not need any security agreement with neighboring countries to keep stability and tranquility in its borders.
In the visit, deputy general consul of Iran in the region, representative of Kurdistan Patriotic Union, members of parliament of the region and representative of Islamic Jamma't in Tehran accompanied the mediamen.
A group of Iranian mediamen were taking part in the visit, too.
