Sulaimaniya, Iraq - Iranian Governor General of Kurdestan province Esmaeil Najjar said that holding Iranian exclusive exhibition in the Iraqi city aims to strengthen the two countries' commercial ties. He told a press conference in presence of his counterpart Dana Ahmad Majid, governor general of as-Sulaimaniya, that Iran has high status in science and technology and that Iranian youth have made advances in the fields of nuclear energy and stem cells and launching satellites to space indicating the scientific prosperity in Iran.
He said that Iran is willing to share its progress in science and technology with its neighboring Muslim countries, hoping that the exhibit will prove effective in deepening bilateral ties.
Referring to ethnical and religious commonalities between the people of Kurdestan province and as-Sulaimaniya, he added that the Iranian nation, especially the Kurdish population of Iran, proved friendship and brotherhood with the Iraqis when they were subject to Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein's savage crackdown.
As-Sulaimaniya's governor general, for his part, said that the exhibition would play significant role in consolidating bilateral relations.
Iran is holding the second exclusive exhibition featuring its potentials in the fields of foodstuffs, agriculture, mining, construction materials, medical equipment, tourism and technical services in Sulaimaniya as of Wednesday.
Some 203 Iranian companies are participating at the exhibit which will end on May 30.
