IPIC/Borealis To Prepare Feasibility Study For Uzbekistan Fertilizer Project
Abu Dhabi wholly-owned International Petroleum Investment Company (IPIC) and Borealis (owned 65% by IPIC) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Uzbekistan’s state joint-stock company Uzkimyosanoat to conduct a feasibility study for the construction of a world-scale fertilizer complex in Uzbekistan, IPIC announced last month. The feasibility study for the project is to be completed by end-2008. If approved the project, which will comprise an ammonia unit and a urea plant, is scheduled to start up in 2012. Uzkimyosanoat has a leading position in output and range of nitrogen and phosphorous fertilizers in the CIS, IPIC said.
