Shafaq News / International Criminal Police Organization "Interpol" issued an international warning about hundreds of fugitives from Abu Ghraib and Taji prisons which were attacked on Monday, as al-Qaeda claimed responsibility for the attack.

"Storming the prisons is considered a significant threat to global security," "Interpol" said in a statement briefed by "Shafaq News"

"Many of the escaped prisoners are senior members of al-Qaeda, and some of them are sentenced to death," the statement added.

Interpol explained that has warned the countries of the region in this regard at the request of Iraq, while the Iraqi authorities are collecting pictures and fingerprints of the fugitives so that a global warning would be issued to help track them down.

Al-Qaeda had used suicide bombers , missiles and 12 car bombs in Abu Ghraib and Taji prisons, killing a number of Iraqi guards and special forces while hundreds of prisoners have escaped
