WASHINGTON DC - Mr. Ahmed Sofan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, has signed an agreement with Asad Jaber, Deputy Chairman of the International Development Association (IDA), to open a new IDA office in Yemen.
IDA is one of the World Bank associates which agreed to fund macro-industrial projects in Yemen such as the refinery project which will cost $400 million, and to which the private sector has already contributed.
Mr. Jaber stated that the association was keen to help improve the investment climate in Yemen. In attendance at the signing of the agreement were the Ambassador of Yemen to the United States, Mr. AbdulWahab Al-Hajrey, and Deputy Minister of Planning, Mr. Motaher Al-Abasy.
