Damascus - Prime Minister Mohammed Naji Otri on Wednesday chaired a qualitative meeting for discussing the measures and primary proposals for the implementation of the Tigris River Irrigation Project in the northeastern province of Hasaka .

Otri stressed the strategic importance of the project as the most important project after the Euphrates Dam due to its developmental, economic and social outcomes.

He urged the Ministry of Irrigation to double its efforts for finishing the study of the technical documents and of the project's economic feasibility.

 The meeting also discussed the procedures and steps taken by the Ministry in preparation for starting the technical studies and for announcing tenders for starting the implementation of the project by local and international companies.
