DOHA: The Supreme Council of Information and Communication Technology (ictQatar) will help Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) build their own websites through the FahrasQatar online business directory project.

Eyas Orabi, ICT Development Project Manager, said most of the SMEs in Qatar could not establish their own websites for some reasons or another that they felt the need to help them for their business to grow.

"We will help the SMEs through our portal by sending them some tools to improve their businesses," Orabi said in an interview with The Peninsula in the sidelines of the soft launch of FarasQatar website yesterday at the ictQatar office. FarasQatar has found out in their studies that most SMEs have very low awareness of e-marketing and its importance of fast-pacing trends of technology. According to studies released to ICT Landscape Report, many businesses especially SMES are not taking advantage of the enormous potential of information and communication technology.

"Through FahrasQatar we will be helping businesses to not only reach potential customers, but also provide a place for businesses to locate strategic partners, read about the latest business trends and interact with their peers," said Khalid Sultan Al Darwish, ictQatar Enterprise Development Manager.

SMEs can register their businesses through the portal and their detailed online presence helps their businesses make the right first impression with every potential customer.
