Tunisia is currently hosting the 4th International Information and Communication Technologies Forum, "ICT 4 All Forum-Tunis+4″ on "ICT Innovation as a Tool for Strengthening Competitiveness and Growth". The event is taking place at the sea suisde resort of Yasmine Hammamet.
On the agenda, events related to investment, partnership and technological innovation, will be organized by major enterprises and international organizations.
Among them is a meeting of the Mediterranean Executive Board of Internet Federation, as well as a meeting of the Expert Group of the eighth African and European Strategic Partnership on information technologies and space organized by the African Union .
The forum will also host conference on "distance and remote education in technological and advanced science" to assist in scientific research through electronic networks and the International Center for Advanced Science and Technology of the United Nations for the development of the industry.
A conference organised by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) as well as two workshops on Wimax modern technologies are also part of the agenda.
In addition to all these events, the Arab Information and Communication Technology Organization (AICTO) held on Monday a conference on "the impact of financial crisis on ICT" and "ICT and economic recovery".
Headquartered in Tunisia, the Arab ICT Organization (AICTO) is an Arab governmental organization working under the aegis of the League of Arab States. It aims at developing ICTs throughout the Arab region and providing the necessary mechanisms to support cooperation and complementarity between AICTO members, promote and enrich common policies and strategies to develop vital technological domains.
Inaugurating the forum, Mr. El Hadj Gley, Minister of Communication Technologies, underscored the importance of partnership and the promotion of investment in the ICT sector so as to contribute to enhance development efforts of developing countries in particular.
In an interview to "TUNISIAONLINENEWS", Mr. Hamdoun Toure, the International Telecommunication Union's Secretary-General, said that in spite of the global financial crisis ICT sector is still growing in terms of investment and employability.
He added that the ICT sector witnessed a great success which had an impact on global economic recovery and the financial re-activation both in the trade and industry sectors.
Several experts in the sector,VIPs from friendly countries as well as companies' delegations from major international financial and economic bodies such as the "World Bank" and the "Davos WEF)", are taking part in the event.
On the sidelines of the "ICT 4 All Forum-Tunis+4″, a technological exhibition was held with the participation of 58 Tunisian and foreign enterprises form different Asian, European, African as well as North American countries operating in the ICT sector.
