GAFSA - Independent presidential candidate Abdelkader Labbaoui said Sunday at an campaign rally in Gafsa that if he is elected he will be totally dedicated to the people.

He also promised to work with all Tunisians to lay down the foundations of a true participatory democracy through the establishment of a development policy taking to account the real needs of regions.

The President of the Republic is the guarantor of state sovereignty, the integrity of its territories, of the constitution as well as public and individual rights according to candidate Labbaoui.

On another hand, the presidential candidate pledged to re-evaluate the social interventions of the Presidency of the Republic on objective bases, by targeting categories and regions that need them most.

Through his platform under the motto "Tunisia to all Tunisians," Labbaoui aims to strengthen the balance of powers and anchor the culture of dialogue and consensus around vital issues.

The application of the anti-terror law as well as the fight against organised crime and money laundering are among its priorities, he said, while seeking to complete the electoral process by calling for the organisation of local and regional elections.

Labbaoui walked in the Oued Aylou Street where he met with citizens who complained about the environmental situation in their district.

International observers of the Carter Centre, the National Democratic Institute and the International Republican Institute were present at the campaign rally.
