The Hikmat Road Safety Foundation (HRS) received last month the Outstanding Innovation Award from the International Road and Transport Union (IRU), in recognition of the vital role played by the foundation in promoting public road safety principles in the Kingdom and its unwavering commitment to decreasing the frequency of traffic accidents and the human and material casualties they entail. Royal Automobile Club of Jordan (RACJ) General Manager Huda Qasim received the award on behalf of Maher Qaddoura, the founder of HRS. Qasim expressed her pride at the idea of a Jordanian institution receiving such an honour, saying: "This award constitutes a badge of honour and an apt recognition of the impressive track record of accomplishments achieved by Hikmat Road Safety Foundation, which works tirelessly to promote awareness amongst citizens on one of the most pressing issues in our society. The organisation's steadfast commitment to change emerges clearly in the awareness campaigns and events it organises, which have contributed substantially to reducing the percentage of traffic accidents nationwide." RACJ held a private celebration to deliver the award to Qaddoura, which was also attended by the upper management of HRS, the Road Safety Committee at RACJ and several of the club's members.
