Dubai: The Dubai Duty Free men’s volleyball team made it three titles in-a-row in the Sharjah Indian Association Ramadan Volleyball Tournament earlier this week.

As many as 12 teams participated in the annual competition organised by the Sharjah Indian Association as part of its sporting activities through Ramadan. Played at the Sharjah Indian School court, the Dubai Duty Free men’s team beat Vision Safety 25-23, 22-25, 25-22, 25-17 to keep a hold on the crown for the third successive year.

“Congratulations to our winning volleyball team. Dubai Duty Free promotes sport on an international level, but we also encourage sport participation within the organisation and the Dubai Duty Free Sports and Social club, which was set up in 1986, is a centre for all of our in-house sporting activities. We are delighted to add another trophy to our impressive collection,” remarked Colm McLaughlin, Executive Vice-Chairman, Dubai Duty Free.

Veteran coach Sagheer Hydrose, who has formerly represented the Indian state of Kerala and is a certified national coach who trains the team, said: “I would like to congratulate the management and staff of Dubai Duty Free for promoting corporate sporting events. It all boils down to the vision of the leaders who run the world’s top airport retail operation.”

Earlier this June, the Dubai Duty Free women’s volleyball team had won the Flomic intercorporate tournament beating Bella Fashions.
