Shafaq News / The leader of the Iraqi Supreme Islamic Council, Ammar al-Hakim arrived in Sulaymaniyah from Erbil in the framework of a visit to the Kurdistan Region to meet senior Kurdish officials.
"Al-Hakim arrived in Sulaymaniyah coming from Erbil and it is scheduled to meet the President's wife, Hiro Ibrahim and a number of members of the political bureau of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK)," Shafaq News reporter in Sulaymaniyah said.
Hakim was received in Sulaimaniyah airport by a number of leaders of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, headed by the official of the party's operating body, al-Mullah Bakhtiar .
Hakim noted in a press conference attended by "Shafaq News", to "the depth of the historical relationship between the Supreme Council and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan".
"Iraq now needs to the presence of Talabani, more than at any other time," he added.
For his part, a leader in PUK, Mullah Bakhtiar said that the aim of al-Hakim's visit to Sulaymaniyah is to discuss the differences between the region and Baghdad, with the leaders of the PUK.
Hakim will meet the first Deputy Secretary General, Kosert Rasool and a number of leaders in the party.
He added that al-Hakim began a private visit to Kurdistan Region two days ago starting from the capital , Erbil as his first stop where he met the region's president, Massoud Barzani and a number of senior government officials and party officials , he had a tour in the city and visited its hospital and met with citizens in a move described by observers as "remarkable".
