MANAMA: Gulf Air has revealed Kuala Lumpur, the largest city and the capital of Malaysia, as a new addition to its 2020 network.

In line with its boutique strategy to add leisure destinations to its network, Bahrain’s national carrier announced that daily flights to Kuala Lumpur operated by the airline’s flagship Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner will begin from July 2020.

“This is very exciting for us at Gulf Air to reach further places and connect multiple cities in the East and the West to our hub, Bahrain,” said the airline’s chief executive Krešimir Ku?ko, on this expansion and route announcement.

“We are glad to resume operations to Kuala Lumpur; a destination known for its leisure and business appeal. We will be operating daily flights to the Malaysian capital as it has proven to be an extremely popular destination to our passengers.”

The network is expanding tactically and rapidly to strengthen the current reach by adding feeder cities to balance traffic from the east and west of the kingdom.

Complimented by a new fleet, Gulf Air’s long haul routes are being exclusively served by the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.

With its boutique business model that was announced earlier this year, Gulf Air has started its fleet modernisation programme and has already received seven new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners and five new Airbus 320neo planes.
