Women nurses who have graduated from University of Sharjah have set up a society of nursing graduates with 17 members.

The society will be chaired by Badriyah Casertis, with Hayat Ali as assistant chairwoman and Aisha Ali as secretary.

With the Gulf countries losing some of their highly experienced nurses to foreign countries, the society will encourage more national women to take up nursing and dedicate their skills to the country. It will also offer guidance to student nurses.

Taghreed Ibrahim, a member of the society, spoke of the noble role played by nurses in helping patients overcome medical problems. She felt the visual media has tarnished the role of nurses despite their humanitarian contribution.

The society will be open to fresh graduates, nurses working in hospitals or those who hold administrative posts in different parts of the country, she added.
