RABAT, May 2 (KUNA) -- Universal music will be the title of the upcoming Gnawa and World music festival which will be held in Al-Sawaira City west of Rabat from 22-25 of June.
The 9th version of the festival will see the participation of many blues and jazz musicians playing their music alongside local Moroccan and African music.
Famous guitarists like Pat Metheny and Corey Harris will play their music live in front of 500 fans during the festival which also witnesses the fusion of Blues and Jazz with the Gnawa Music.
Last year saw the participation of 300 musical bands from around the world which delivered music to 450 spectators from Morocco and the world, according to officials.
The music drive of this festival originates from the local Gnawa music which is considered a mystical music. It was gradually brought to Morocco by Sub-Saharan Africans and later became part of the Moroccan tradition.
The fusion of Gnawa and world music is truly unique therefore; the organizers will aim at promoting world peace by sharing music among the people of the world.
