Global Process Systems (GPS), a member of the Abu Dhabi's Al-Jaber Group, has appointed senior finance professional Scott Ewen as Chief Financial Officer, reporting to GPS Group Chief Executive Ian Prescott.

Based at GPS' Group headquarters in Dubai, UAE, Ewen, aged 52 and a Chartered Accountant, will be responsible for the financial management of the Group's entire operations across all locations in the Middle East and South East Asia. These include engineering centres in Dubai, Malaysia and Singapore and fabrication facilities in Abu Dhabi and Batam, Indonesia.

Prescott said: "We are delighted that Scott is joining us. He will add to the strength of our Executive Management Team and his extensive experience in senior finance positions in the oil and gas contracting industry at an international level will be invaluable as we enter a period of sustained growth." Earlier this year, the Group secured new orders worth in excess of $200m for its operations across the board.

Ewen graduated with a BSc in Pharmacology and qualified as an accountant with Deloitte Haskins and Sells in his home town of Aberdeen, Scotland. He subsequently worked in finance positions for operator Total Oil Marine, Foster Wheeler Wood Group, MOM and SAIC Ltd. In 1997, he relocated to Dubai to take up the post of Regional Controller of Halliburton and later joined MKM Commercial Holdings, a conglomerate with operations in property, hospitality, hotels, transport, industrial and oil services. As Group Finance Director, he was instrumental in converting the MKM Group from 25 individual entities operating as sole traders to a five-company LLC group.
