Tehran, Nov 23, IRNA
Palestinian resistance movements' victories over Zionist regime proved the fragile nature of Israel, Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi said here on Thursday.
He made the remarks in a meeting with the Diplomatic Defense Committee of Defense Ministry.
'Gaza people's victory in the 8-day war is the continuation of 22-day and 33-day victories of resistance movement; these victories show the fragile nature of the Zionist regime; Palestinians' resistance increased the deterrence of Gaza vis-a-vis Tel Aviv raids and made Zionists undecided and ambivalent to continue the war,' Brigadier General Vahidi said.
Vahidi pointed to the penetration of Hezbollah's Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) into the Israeli airspace and underlined that the penetration of Hezbollah UAVs and later on, penetration of Hamas missiles in the Israel's iron dome proved the fragility of this regime's alleged power.
'Resistance, jihad and martyrdom proved to be effective against the Zionist regime's aggressions while compromise have shown fruitless; victories of Palestinains lead also to the embarrassment of Tel-Aviv's western allies,' he added.
The minister noted that full support of the Palestinian nation as well as cutting ties with Israel is the least thing the Muslim countries should do in support of Palestine.
'Any action which result in weakening the resistance movement and deviate the public opinion from the Palestinian causes is a betrayal to the Palestinian nation,' Vahidi further said.
In the meantime, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast congratulated here on Thursday, the victory of the resistance movements over the usurper regime of Israel.
'This victory is the result of the legal resistance of the oppressed Palestinian nation against the aggressions of the Zionist regime including the people of Gaza,' he added.
Mehmanparast called for the immediate removal of Gaza siege which has isolated it from the world.
'Muslim countries should be vigilant toward the divisive plots of Zionist regime and protect their unity,' he added.
In the meantime, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council Saeed Jalili on Thursday warned Israel and the US over the repetition of their attacks on Palestinians in the future.
'The Islamic Republic of Iran congratulates the oppressed people of Palestine on their victory over the Zionist regime in the 8-day war and calls on all the resistance groups to vigorously pursue the demands of the people with unity and reliance on resistance as the only way to liberate their territories from Israeli occupation,' Jalili said in a statement.
He further urged the Muslim countries to play their role to help liberate the Holy Qods by taking effective measures.
Meanwhile, Hamas Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh on Thursday thanked Iran for its support for Gaza people.
Hamas prime minister termed the resistance movement's position stronger as ever due to the Islamic Awakening movement.
On November 14, Israel launched a deadly offensive on the blockaded Gaza Strip, which killed more than 160 Palestinians and injured some 1,200 others. In retaliation, Palestinian resistance fighters fired rockets and missiles into the Israeli cities, killing at least five Israelis.
Israel and Hamas agreed on a ceasefire on Wednesday after eight days of intensive war over the Gaza Strip.
The ceasefire, which took effect at 9 pm local time, was formally announced by US Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton and Egyptian Foreign Minister Mohamed Amr at a news conference in Cairo. It appeared to avert an escalating battle which had threatened to turn into wider war.
According to the truce agreement, Israel undertook to lift blockade of Gaza and end its terror operations against Hamas officials and Hamas in turn will stop all rocket fire
The truce took effect after days of heavy bombardments on Gaza and the Palestinian resistance movement had fired hundreds of rockets into Israel.
Gaza has been blockaded since 2007, a situation that has caused a decline in the standards of living among the population of about 1.7 million Palestinians.
