The Fujairah Government is negotiating with a foreign investor to build a four-star, 60-room hotel and another 30 chalets on the Fujairah Corniche in cooperation with the Fujairah International Marine Club.

One out of three major international investment companies, who were invited to submit their tenders for the hotel and chalets project, was chosen to carry out the project within the next three months.

Ahmed Ibrahim Mohammed, director of the Fujairah International Marine Club, told Gulf News that negotiations are ongoing between the Fujairah Government and the new investor to agree on all details concerning the construction of the the hotel and chalets.

"The new project will be the largest of its kind to be constructed in Fujairah city", Mohammed said.

"The new deluxe hotel and beach chalets will be an important addition to the emirate's hotels, motels and residential accommodation. The new hotel will provide its visitors with a unique and comfortable accommodation on the emirate's beaches that is more free and is without the complications of the usual procedures, such as checking in and out."

He pointed out that Fujairah is becoming a more popular venue for staging local and international marine sports.

"The two major hotels in Fujairah city, Fujairah Hilton and Al Diar Siji Hotel, are not enough to cater to the emirate's increasing number of visitors, especially when the Fujairah International Marine Club organises an important international event," Mohammed said.

The new hotel and chalets are expected to be constructed on Fujairah Corniche, between the Fujairah Hilton Hotel and the Fujairah International Marine Club.

"The new hotel, as well as the 30 deluxe chalets, will be built on a land granted by His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Fujairah," Mohammed said.

He noted that a special health club, a swimming pool and a major restaurant that offers seafood and other international cuisine will be set up to cater to visitors who will be staying at the new hotel and chalets.

The hotel and chalets will be managed and run by the investing company, Mohammed said. The hotel is expected to be occupied by foreigners and tourists who are interested in attending water sports activities in Fujairah.

"After holding one major round of each of the well-known World Class One Powerboat Championships in Fujairah for the last five years, Fujairah has become an important international venue for various international marine sports competitions, and the new hotel will help attract more visitors", he said.
