In attendance at the ceremony were Dr Moza Ghobash represented Sheikha Shamsa to the ceremony and Dr Abdul Latif Al Shamsi, the director general of Institute of Applied Technology (IAT) who, in a speech, said the board of trustees of the Shamsa Bint Suhail Award for Creative Women dedicated the celebration to President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan as a token of love, loyalty and in realization of national unity and allegiance to the leadership and the country.

He thanked His Highness General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces for his initiative to establish the Institute and his support to it to make it live up to the ambitions of the nation.

He also stressed that the prudent leadership prioritizes technological education in order to meet the demands of knowledge-based economy.

Graduation of the new batch of IAT female students, he noted, was possible by the support extended by the leadership to education in general and to efforts to enhance technological education in particular on the way to meet the demands of industrial and economic development in the UAE.

Al Shamsi further said that IAT is interested Create a world-class Career Technical Education system that will produce the scientists, engineers and technicians needed for the UAE to build a knowledge-based economy.
