Hyderabad: More than 12 hours after he was moved from Chanchalguda jail to Osmania Hospital in view of his deteriorating health condition, YSR Congress party president YS Jaganmohan Reddy was continuing his indefinite fast in protest against proposed bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.

Even after his mother Vijayalaksmi and other senior party leaders made appeals to end the fast in view of the adamant attitude of Congress party, Jagan refused to break his fast.

In a dramatic action around midnight on Thursday night Jagtan was brought to Osmania Hospital in a bullet proof car. His supporters tried to stop the convoy of vehicles but the police used mild force to disperse them and cleared the way.

The entire route from Chanchalguda Jail to the hospital was sealed off and heavy police deployment was made to keep the intruders away.

Wearing a red T-shirt and appearing exhausted, Jagan walked from the car into the hospital. The police made an elaborate arrangements outside Osmania Hospital to keep the protesters at bay.

Jail Superintndent Saidaiah said that the decision to shift him to hospital was taken in view of his worsening health condition. “We were not in a position to manage his health and doctors advised him to shift to hospital,” he said.

Meanwhile, Jagan’s mother Vijayalakshmki and wife Bharati moved a petition before the CBI Special Court seeking permission to be with Jagan in view of his serious health condition. The court was yet to respond.

Meanwhile, nobody including the family members were being allowed by the authorities to see Jagan in the hospital. According to the latest health bulletin issued by the Osmania Hospital, Jagan was suffering from low BP and weak pulse rate. Doctors have warned that if he continues with the hunger strike, his kidneys will be affected.

After the political affairs committee of YSRCP held a discussion about his health, the party made a formal appeal to its president to end his six days long fast.

“Jagan should break his fast for the sake of the people. I am worried over the reports of his serious health condition,” said Vijayalakshmi. She lashed out at the officials for not allowing to see her son.

Meanwhile, in Kurnool district, the police ended the fast of MLA K. Rami Reddy and shifted him to hospital in view of his worsening health condition. He was on indefinite fast to protest against plans to carve out Telangana state.
