CAIRO (Dow Jones)-Egypt's Orascom Construction Industries and HCC Infrastructure Ltd., an Indian infrastructure company, said Tuesday that they signed an agreement to pursue private public partnership projects and build-operate-transfer projects tendered by the National Highway Authority of India.
The National Highway Authority of India will be tendering about 11,854 kilometers of road and highway works during the second half of 2010 and the first half of 2011, said Orascom in an e-mailed statement.
Orascom and HCC Infrastructure Ltd, or HIL, will also explore additional sectors with the intention to develop further infrastructure projects in India in the near future, said Orascom in the statement.
HIL's parent, Hindustan Construction Company, is an engineering, construction and infrastructure development company. It also works with the transportation segment in the construction of roads, highways, bridges, railways and mass rapid transport systems.
Orascom shares trade -0.1% at EGP225.80 in a broadly positive market.
