MUSCAT -- E-Marine PJSC, the UAE-based submarine cable solution provider in the Middle East, has announced that its new state-of-the-art cable depot in Port of Salalah is ready for operation and the first cable transfer to the depot is currently in progress. E-Marine's facility in Salalah is designed to provide safe and sound storage for highly sensitive undersea cables and accessories. The cable depot consists of eight submarine cable storage tanks, providing a large capacity for submarine cable storage and accessories, office space and general storage area. Given the current demand for eminence cable storage facilities, E-Marine expects that up to 80 per cent of its available storage area space will be occupied by end 2009.
"This strategic location of cable depot in the Port of Salalah enhances E-Marine's services in the Western Indian Ocean, East Africa and the Red Sea," said Omar bin Kalban, Managing Director and CEO of E-Marine PJSC. The depot will not only provide additional storage space for cables and spares but will also improve operational efficiencies and improve of quality of service offering in the region. "This location helps reduce the sailing time and allow E-Marine to reach the farthest point in the region on a short span of time and many of our clients have praised E-Marine for this step due to the various benefits they will gain from the Salalah Depot," Omar continued. E-Marine fleet and depots are capable of providing full and one stop solutions to the customers. Cable Ship Etisalat is a medium-sized cable ship which is designed to operate in shallow waters.
Cable Ship NIWA and Cable Ship Umm Al Anber are large cable ships with work class ROV's and can operate for longer periods at sea. Motorized Barge Wasel is designed to play a vital role in shallow water operations to provide support for diving, survey, shore-end cable landings and ROV deployment activities. E-Marines fleet is equipped with the latest survey, navigation equipment and Cable Management Systems.
