The Colour Surprises Week of the Dubai Summer Surprises is set to be launched this evening at the Ibn Battuta Mall, on the heels of the Sweets Surprises week, which ended yesterday.

Organised by the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI), the opening ceremony promises to provide a colourful start to the fourth week of the 10-week summer event, with a wide range of artistic shows parading the mall squares.

"The Colour Surprises Week activities start today as our team is quite ready to deal with the event and highlight it in a way that reflects the outstanding reputation of Dubai and the bright side of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry which organizes the week," said Nuha Safar, head of the organising committee of the Colour Surprises Week.

"We invite all nationals, residents and visitors of Dubai to visit Ibn Battuta Mall and have a chance to enjoy the exhibits of the opening ceremony which includes dancing shows in a carnival atmosphere and also gifts will be distributed amongst the mall visitors," Safar said.

About 23 activities have been organised during the Colour Surprises Week, which runs until July 20. Daily activities will include five theatrical shows, ten workshops, a children's contest and an exhibition, in addition to a charity tent. The events are scheduled to be held in 25 shopping centres across Dubai.

The start of the Colour Surprises Week has also spread its colour spectrum over the DCCI headquarters, with three dimensional images of paint brushes and a car painted with a rainbow of colours, adorning the entrance of the building.

"We were interested in making the Chamber's premises an attractive reflection of the spirit of the Colour Surprises Week. We carefully chose the locations of the building's internal and external decorations so that all the Chamber's employees and clients could see. The decorations were placed in the ground floor, which is the busiest floor in the building, whereas the external decoration was placed in a way that could easily draw the attention of pedestrians through Baniyas Street towards Al Maktoum bridge," said Muhannad Saeed Bu Saif, member of the organising committee of the Colour Surprises Week.

"The idea of decoration was inspired from certain items that are related to colours such as brushes, a colouring board and colouring pencils. The decoration adds more enjoyment to the cheerful atmosphere of the Colour Surprises inside and outside the main building of the Chamber, which we hope could win the admiration of Dubai nationals, residents as well as visitors," he said.
