DAMASCUS, (SANA)- The Directorate of Drug Supervision and Research Laboratories at the Health Ministry was granted the International ISO 17025 Laboratory Accreditation Certificate by the German Accreditation Council (GAC).
The Directorate was accredited in the field of physical and chemical analyses and the mechanism applied on preliminary materials and ready-made pharmaceutical compositions after matching the standards of the German Accreditation Association.
"The earned international ISO certificate has constituted an incentive for the workers in the national drug sector in general and the Drug Supervision Labs in particular to work harder to keep up the high level and scientific achievements earned by national drug," Minister of Health Wael Halqi said.
He added that such achievements will help open new markets before the Syrian drug and further add to its reputation as it now imports to 55 countries around the world.
Habib Abboud, Director of Drug Supervision and Research Labs, pointed out that preparation for the accreditation started three years ago in the framework of the project of developing the infrastructure of efficiency in Syria.
He said that the accreditation certificate was awarded to the Directorate after thorough examination by the German Accreditation Association of the work of drug supervision and research laboratories conducted last March.
Abboud noted that the earned ISO Certificate is valid till April, 2016.
